Kreka Mine

The union of the the Kreka mine has announced a general strike for Nov. 26 over unpaid October wages. On the other hand, the management is claiming that it will pay the wages by then.

The union says that mine employees, as well as miners had received their last wage at the start of October. They do not understand why this has happened as the production plan for October was met, i.e. 180,000 tons of coal was mined, according to Nezavisne Novine.

“The strike is imminent because our dates do not overlap. Nov. 25 is a holiday and if we do not receive our pay by Nov. 22, we will begin striking on Nov. 26 in all mines and facilities, as well as in the directorate,” Zuhdija Tokic, president of the union of miners of the Tuzla Kreka mine.

On the other hand, the mine’s management claims that employees were not paid because the mine’s account was blocked over a KM8m debt. It said, however, that there was no reason for panic and that the employees would be paid.
