A EUR2m loan from the EBRD to Sparkasse Bank Macedonia will support investment in high performances of green technologies in privately owned buildings, including apartments, in North Macedonia.

Sparkasse Bank Macedonia will be lending funds to private borrowers who plan to invest in technologies, materials and solutions aimed at improving energy efficiency, the EBRD has stated. The EBRD financing is part of its Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF).

This is the third GEFF line that has been approved to Sparkasse Bank Macedonia. The EBRD is giving EUR3m in mortgage to Sparkasse Bank Macedonia for lending to private borrowers for housing purposes.

This is the second mortgage the EBRD is giving the bank, after the first – signed in 2017 – was completely lent on the North Macedonian market.
