North Macedonia’s infantry will raise its combat readiness by purchasing 150 U.S. armored personnel carriers (APCs) over the next five years, in accordance with an army modernization plan, Macedonian Defense Minister Radmila Secerinska has said.

“According to our long-term plan for developing our defense capabilities, which has envisaged somewhere around EUR150m in a several-year period.

That is between EUR10m-EUR15m at the annual level. Part of these EUR150m will be a U.S. EUR30m donation,” she told Skopje’s Alsat TV, Novosti has reported.

She said that “two days ago, we received information from the U.S. side that they are increasing support for this purpose from USD30m to USD37m, which will not just be spent on vehicles but additional equipment for our infantry.”
