Due to violations of the Dayton accords, the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the implosion of the country’s institutions at the hands of the Republika Srpska authorities, Germany has decided to suspend four projects worth EUR105 million.

Sarajevo’s Klix.ba portal reported on April 15 that Bosnia recently received an official note from Berlin that Germany was monitoring the political situation with great concern and that "RS and its leadership are visibly attempting to secede."

The portal explained that for that reason Germany had decided to suspend four infrastructure projects worth EUR105 million, as a form of sanctions against the Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik and RS's leadership, until “the unconstitutional decisions by the Parliament of Republika Srpska are withdrawn and state institutions are unblocked.”

Great Britain recently decided to impose sanctions against Dodik and Republika Srpska President Zeljka Cvijanovic for attempting to undermine the legitimacy and viability of Bosnia and Herzegovina. A day later, High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina Christian Schmidt issued a decision on annulling a Law on Immovable Property adopted by the RS legislature.
