Serbia's Trade Rises to 19.9 Billion Euros in Seven Months

The Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) approved a loan worth EUR200 million to support the Serbian healthcare sector in fighting the coronavirus, the Council of Europe (CoE) reported on May 13.

The Serbian government has used a number of measures to curb the spread of the virus, including the purchase of protective gear and medical supplies.

The CEB loan, in the form of a Public Finance Facility (PFF), will cover gaps in the extraordinary budget lines created for COVID-19 mitigation measures.

The PFF will ensure continuity in health services and the stability of the health sector, including the protection of medical staff. It will also make it possible for Serbia to cover the cost of medical and pharmaceutical supplies, medical equipment, patient monitors and coronavirus tests.

The focus of the PFF is on improving the supply to hospitals of personal protective equipment such as epidemiological and surgical masks, alcohol disinfectants and protective clothing.
