Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic met on June 2 with representatives of China's Shandong Hi-Speed Group led by the company's CEO, Meng Yan, to discuss ongoing local projects and opportunities and plans for new ones, especially in the area of road infrastructure.

Brnabic underlined that Serbia's economic growth and that of GDP rates depended, among other things, on the large infrastructure projects involving Chinese companies, adding that Shandong Hi-Speed Group had already proven to be a reliable and efficient partner to Serbia, the Government of Serbia quoted Brnabic as saying.

The construction of an expressway linking Valjevo and Lajkovac is one of such projects, the cabinet said in a release, underlining that the Chinese company had completed 50 kilometers of Corridor XI, including Obrenovac-Ub and Lajkovac-Ljig routes.

The meeting was attended by the Chinese ambassador to Serbia, Chen Bo.
