Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic said on June 23 that so far this year the inflow of foreign investment had reached EUR1.4bn, which was almost 13% more than in the same period last year.

During a tour of the reconstructed Smederevo 3 electrical substation, Mihajlovic pointed out that there had to be “the best possible” road and energy infrastructure for there to be new investments, jobs and development.

She also announced a new investment cycle – only in the Elektromreza Srbije power transmission system in the amount of EUR770m, which is part of a new investment package kicking off this year.

The minister underscored that connecting to the region was a requisite for development and that the Transbalkan Corridor was one of the most important corridors in energy transportation.

In her words, project and technical documents need to be additionally prepared for connecting Serbia to Romania and Republika Srpska.
