Serbia is on the road to significant recovery with an economic growth rate of six percent in 2021, according to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development's (EBRD) latest June 29 report on the region's economic outlook.

The bank expects consumption to recover after the coronavirus pandemic and the growth of public investments in accordance with the country's continued expansive fiscal policy.

GDP in 2021, it said, will be supported additionally by government spending on health, subsidies for salaries and one-off payments to pensioners and other categories of the population.

EBRD director for Serbia and the Western Balkans Matteo Colangeli has said that the bank remains devoted to offering support to the authorities in maintaining accelerated growth.  "Strengthening the public sector's competitiveness, support for well-structured investments in transport and ecological infrastructure, as well as transitioning to green energy will be key priorities," Colangeli said.
