Serbian Minister of Construction, Transportation and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic signed on Oct. 21, as part of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev's visit to Serbia, an agreement to resume the modernization of the Belgrade-Bar railway.
"Together with Russian Railways, Serbia has modernized nearly 200 kilometers of railway through Serbia. The agreement that we signed today has launched new projects worth EUR230 million, which will be financed based on a new Russian loan for that
purpose," Mihajlovic said.
The minister added that the Bar route, together with Railway Corridor X, constituted a major railway connecting Serbia with the region, specifying that the total length of the railway to be overhauled was 209.8 km.
Another two railway deals were signed during the Russian prime minister's visit to Belgrade, approving a Russian state exportation law to Serbia worth EUR1752.5 million, to which Serbia is expected to add another EUR57.5 million, for a total of EUR230 million.
