The candidate of the ruling coalition in Republika Srpska, Sinisa Karan, was elected last week as president of the Bosnian Serb entity, having defeated the opposition’s candidate Branko Blanusa in a repeated snap vote held in several municipalities. Real power, however, stays in the hands of the ruling coalition’s leader in Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, who is planning a swift return to one of the highest offices, according to sources in Sarajevo.
