Another Blow to the Rule of Law

Last week’s torching of Valjevo prosecutor Vukasin Vujicic’s car kicked up a storm in the critically-minded public in Serbia, as it is believed that the motive for the act is intimidation with regard to one or more of the cases that he is handling, in an attempt to influence his work. The attack on the Valjevo prosecutor’s property came only a day after the anniversary of unprecedented police brutality against demonstrators in the city, which also saw the severe beating of a number of minors.
