Democratic League of Kosovo leader Isa Mustafa on March 20 asked his coalition partner and Premier Albin Kurti to lift the tariffs on imports from Serbia, abolish the decision on dismissing Agim Veliu from the post of minister of interior affairs and public administration and apologize to the Democratic League of Kosovo.
Mustafa says that at a meeting he had with Kurti on March 16, which was also attended by Speaker Vjosa Osmani and First Deputy Premier from the Democratic League of Kosovo Avdullah Hoti, he made it clear that not lifting the import fee and further deterioration of relations with the U.S. would call into question the coalition which, as he put it, they had formed in a bid to bring about change.
He said that he got an answer from the premier on March 18, in the form of dismissal of first vice president of the League Agim Veliu from the post of interior and public administration minister and his being declared a traitor in a public address that same evening.
Mustafa also said that he was neither a young man susceptible to the influence of others nor an adventurer, adding that he was concerned about the citizens.
"I am not young, to fall under the influence of others, nor am I an adventurer. I am extremely concerned about our citizens. I want my party and I to give our best to win the fight against this virus. I want to cooperate with our strategic partner and not lose their support... I expect that Kurti will lift the tariff today, abolish the decision on Veliu's dismissal, apologize to him and to the Democratic League of Kosovo for his and the behavior of those with whom he cooperated in this low act. To give us a chance to be together in this battle," said Mustafa.
