The Serbian Health Ministry reported on March 26 that two patients infected with COVID-19 have passed away the night before, adding that so far six people in Serbia have died from the virus since the outbreak of the epidemic.

According to the ministry’s latest report from March 25, there have been 384 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Serbia.

Serbian President’s Media Adviser Suzana Vasiljevic announced on March 26 that the government will soon make known its new measures against the spread of the disease.

Vasiljevic said for Prva TV that President Vucic had asked the experts at the Crisis Group meeting on March 25, if it is necessary to close down the three main hotspots – Belgrade, Valjevo and Nis – to which they replied that, for now, they see no need for such measures.

She added that the experts believe the three cities should be closely observed over the next 24 hours before the decision to close them down can be made.

Closing a city down means, Vasiljevic explained, that no one can leave or enter it without a special permit, which would likely be issued to those transporting food and other necessities.
