Belgrade and Pristina have formally pledged to establish economic ties, but the pledge might have serious geopolitical consequences, as it would loosen up Serbia's dependence on Russian gas and provide the two with a link to a security system led by the United States, Moscow's Kommersant reported on Sept. 7.

The daily says that a major political novelty lies in the item 15 of the document, where Kosovo accepts an annual moratorium on moves to join international organizations, and Serbia not to campaign for de-recognition or non-recognition of Kosovo's independence.

The last item on Belgrade's and Pristina's relationship with Israel is even more unexpected, the newspaper says, quoting head of the Belgrade Foreign Policy Center, Dragan Djukanovic, as saying that the talks hosted by the White House expanded opportunities for Serbia's cooperation with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
