Momcilo Krajisnik (BETAPHOTO/MILOS MISKOV)

The first Republika Srpska (RS) assembly speaker and the Hague tribunal convict, Momcilo Krajisnik, died on Sept. 15 of coronavirus related complications, the RS Hospital and Clinical Center in Banjaluka has confirmed.

Krajisnik, born in 1945, was transferred from Pale to the Banjaluka hospital on Aug. 29, with severe double pneumonia and placed on ventilator.

The Hague tribunal has sentenced Krajisnik to 20 years in prison for a war crime against non-Serbs in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was released in 2013, after serving two thirds of jail time.

Upon his release from prison, Krajisnik founded association “Creators of RS,” close to the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats leader, Milorad Dodik.
