According to U.S. President Donald Trump, the leaders of Serbia and Kosovo were hugging in the White House as the economic normalization agreement was being reached, which he called a beautiful sight.

During a presidential rally in Pennsylvania on Sept. 27, Trump again talked about his role as a mediator between Serbia and Kosovo, as well as between Israel and the Arab countries, presenting himself as one who brings peace to those in conflict. He also criticized leading U.S. media outlets for not reporting his achievements.

“Kosovo and Serbia have been killing each other for many years […]. They don’t get along. They are sort of like the Palestinians and Israelis […]. We trade with both sides, so we have certain power. So I said, listen, let’s get a deal, let’s make economic peace, and peace in general. They came to my office, to the Oval Office, to sign. They were hugging, it was a beautiful thing to see. We have saved a lot of lives,” Trump said.

A week before, at a North Carolina rally, Trump said he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize as he had managed to stop “mass killings” between Serbia and Kosovo.

On Sept. 4, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti met in the White House where they signed an economic normalization agreement.
