One person died from the consequences of the coronavirus infection in Serbia in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of fatalities since the start of the epidemic to 750, it was announced on Oct. 1.
According to information from the Ministry of Health and the Batut Institute, samples of 6,139 people were tested in the past 24 hours, with 111 registering as positive for the virus.
There are currently 276 covid patients being treated in hospitals throughout Serbia, 23 of whom are on ventilators. Since the start of the pandemic, 1,140,378 people in Serbia have been tested, with laboratories confirming the presence of the virus in 33,662 of them.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated on Oct. 1 that the state had invested a little more than four billion dinars in the construction of a new covid hospital in Batajnica, while more than two billion dinars has been invested in the covid facility that is under construction in Krusevac.
During the inspection of the construction site at the Military Complex in Batajnica, Vucic said that two billion dinars more was necessary for equipping the hospital, i.e. that the unplanned amount paid from the state budget added up to a total of around EUR70 million, which was the consequence of the coronavirus epidemic.
