Epidemiologist Predrag Kon said on Oct. 28 that it is “very likely” that additional restrictive measures to fight the coronavirus epidemic may well be introduced at some point, but that for the moment it is important to tell the citizens to avoid mass gatherings and wear protective masks.
Speaking for the RTS public service Kon added that the restriction of movement will be the last option, stressing that before that, the contacts with the infected should be severed.
“The introduction of additional measures must be in accordance with the situation. We have not only an increase in the number of infected but also a higher number of those who are hospitalized. This is likely to influence our decisions regarding the measures. For the time being what is most important is to tell the citizens, especially in Belgrade, to avoid gatherings and wear protective masks,” Kon said.
Zoran Gojkovic, who is also a member of the Crisis Headquarters, told the same outlet on Oct. 28 that the epidemiological situation in Serbia is very unfavorable after over 1,000 tested positive to the virus in a single day, adding that a further growth in the number of infected is expected.
