Communal police officers and city communal inspectors would no early than in a week’s time be able to issue fines on-site to those not wearing face coverings or not keeping physical distance outdoors or indoors, Belgrade daily Blic wrote in its Nov. 3 issue.
According to the daily, communal police officers or city communal inspectors (tourist, environmental, market...) could issue fines of RSD5,000 to all not wearing face coverings or not keeping physical distance indoors.
Changes to the Law on the Protection of Population from Infectious Diseases, which will be before the parliament on Nov. 5, will largely help state sanitary inspectors as so far they have been the only officials authorized to implement the countermeasures prescribed by the Crisis Headquarters.
The parliament should adopt the changes to the Law on Nov. 10, meaning that stricter implementation of the countermeasures could start next week. Further, city communal inspectors and communal officers will be authorized to issue on-site fines from RSD50,000 to RSD500,000 to legal entities for example in a restaurant or café where there is not enough distance between the tables or if the number of guests is above the allowed number.
