Aleksandar Vulin (BETAPHOTO/MINISTRY OF INTERIOR)

Serbian Minister of Interior Aleksandar Vulin said on Nov. 16 that Serbia had proved it was capable of handling the consequences of the latest migrant crisis more successfully than most of European states.

The minister, together with Serbia's police director, Vladimir Rebic, and Commissioner for Refugees and Migrants Vladimir Cucic, visited the police officers who in a Nov. 16 operation had tracked down irregular migrants. Vulin said that to all irregular migrants who respected Serbian laws and were part of the national reception system for migrants the country would guarantee legal and human rights, providing for medical protection, food and proper accommodation as well.

"All those outside the system, who might feel that they could move around without a single document, and without being properly registered, and also those who believe that they can stay in Serbia without respecting our laws, they all need to know that Serbia is a serious and well-organized state and that the interior ministry is fully committed to protecting order and peace," Minister Vulin was explicit.
