The State Secretary of the Serbian Health Ministry, Mirsad Djerlek, announced on Jan. 7 that around 500,000 doses of the Russian COVID-19 vaccine, Sputnik V, will arrive in Serbia in mid-January, adding that a large shipment of the Chinese vaccine is expected, too.
“Starting with Jan. 8 Serbia will have over 110 vaccination stations all over the country,” the official told the Pink TV. Djerlek, who is also the head of the National Coordination Team for Immunization, recalled that the immunization against the coronavirus is tiered.
After receiving the Russian vaccine on Jan. 6, Djerlek also said he had experienced no side effects and urged the citizens to do the same, adding that they can receive any of the available and approved vaccines.
“The Ministry of Health is fully ready for a mass immunization, and once we’ve managed to have between 1.4 and 3 million citizens vaccinated we’ll be able to say that we are close to defeating COVID-19,” Djerlek said.
Among other officials who were vaccinated on Jan. 6 are National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic and Foreign Minister Aleksandar Vulin.
