Acting Kosovo president Vjosa Osmani dissolved parliament on Jan. 6 and scheduled an early election for Feb. 14.
A statement said that Osmani had passed the decision “based on his constitutional duties and the Constitutional Court’s decision as well as after talks with parliamentary parties and the Central Electoral Commission.”
The Central Electoral Commission was ordered to take all of the necessary steps to organize and hold elections for the Kosovo Assembly.
Kosovo’s Constitutional Court, which fully publicized its decision, also declared MP Etem Arifi’s vote during a vote for inaugurating prime minister Avdullah Hoti’s cabinet invalid and ordered that a legislative election be held within 40 days.
