Serbian Parliament Speaker Ivica Dacic said on Jan. 27 that Chair of the Delegation to the EU-Serbia Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee Tanja Fajon had discredited herself and should not partake in an inter-party dialogue between the authorities and opposition in Serbia.

Dacic told Happy TV that MEP Fajon was "rooting for the part of the opposition" in Serbia which included president of the Party of Freedom and Justice Dragan Djilas.

"They should help that dialogue, not take sides. They have lost a sort of objectivity," said Dacic.

According to him, the EU should help the inter-party dialogue and asked: "How can anyone think that Fajon is objective?"

On Jan. 26 Fajon confirmed that the authorities in Belgrade had asked for her exemption from the dialogue between European and Serbian parliamentarians and said it was unacceptable to Brussels, because the EU had clear internal rules for representation.
