The Serbian speaker, Ivica Dacic, has said that David McAllister, chair of the European Parliament's committee on foreign affairs, has scheduled a meeting for this week to discuss an inter-party dialogue on the election process in Serbia.

Dacic said in a Jan. 29 interview with B92 TV that the meeting would focus on the format of the dialogue and the themes that will be discussed, but underlined that participants should have realistic expectations. "That means that the purpose of the dialogue is not to produce some parity or interim government," the Serbian speaker explained.

Dacic also said that when he spoke with McAllister late in December 2020 the agreement was to allow some time to think about "key issues," including when the talks should begin, who would represent the European Parliament and what the format and subjects of the talks should be.

Speaking about Tanja Fajon, a member of the European Parliament, who confirmed that Serbia had requested that she be excluded from the dialogue, the speaker underlined that it was Fajon who had "disqualified herself with her own statements," and that "a large number of parties" were critical of her actions.
