Russian President Vladimir Putin has told Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic that Russia is in favor of a compromise solution for the Kosovo issue that has to be approved by the U.N. Council, reiterating that Serbia can count on Russia’s support when it comes to that and other important questions, the Kremlin’s official statement from Feb. 3 reads.

The statement issued after the phone conversation between the two leaders says that Serbia’s president informed his Russian counterpart of “his personal assessment of the current situation in solving the Kosovo issue, with regard to his contacts with foreign partners.”

Vucic and Putin then discussed the current bilateral and international questions, with special emphasis on the suppression of the COVID-19 pandemic and expansion of the two countries’ vaccine collaboration, including further shipments of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine to Serbia, the statement adds.

According to the Kremlin, Vucic and Putin positively assessed cooperation between Serbia and Russia, especially when it comes to the execution of large joint projects in the areas of energy, transportation and high technology.
