Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Feb. 10 said that his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping had confirmed his visit to Serbia.

“Chinese President Xi Jinping has thanked Serbia for the invitation, saying he will definitely pay a visit. It is a great honor for our country,” Vucic told reporters in Belgrade after the “17+1” Summit, adding that bilateral relations were “exceptional.”

At the Chinese president’s invitation, Vucic took part in a video-summit organized by China and 17 Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries.

Vucic pledged to succeed in combating the mafia, stressing that no lies or threats would stop him as he would continue fighting as long as he lived, adding that no one could crash Serbia, which, according to him, was now the symbol of success. He went on to say that the criminal gang around the arrested Veljko Belivuk was “a terribly strong chapter of” the mafia clan in Montenegro.

China and 17 CEE countries have been meeting since 2012, with the aim to strengthen cooperation within the Belt and Road Initiative in various fields – trade and investments, agriculture, science and technology, healthcare, and culture.
