Remembering the bombardment of Belgrade 80 years ago and the suffering and victims of the Serb people is a sort of fight against history revision, according to the participants of an online conference titled “Immortal Regiment 2021 – following in ancestors’ steps, taking steps to freedom,” held on April 6.

“Due to our cooperation and refusal of history revisions, the Russian Immortal Regiment has received full support here in Serbia,” Russian Ambassador to Serbia Aleksandr Botsan-Kharchenko said, adding that after Russia, this movement was most developed in Serbia.

A minister and chairman of the Immortal Regiment Foundation, Nenad Popovic, said that the fight was not over with the capitulation of the Nazi Germany, adding that many had been trying to “distort history and remove their criminal role in World War II.”

“The desire for freedom defeated hundreds and thousands of visible and invisible aircraft. The fight of our ancestors was not futile. Only futile are the attempts of those who would like us to forget that fight,” Popovic stressed.
