Ivica Dacic

Parliament speaker Ivica Dacic in Belgrade on May 18 said that democratic progress and reforms in Serbia would be unimaginable without the Council of Europe’s (CoE) mission.

“The CoE Mission to Serbia is one of those places without which democratic progress of our country and reforms in crucial fields would be unimaginable,” Dacic said in the parliament on the occasion marking 20 years of CoE’s Office in Belgrade.

Dacic thanked representatives of the CoE on their effort invested in “continued progress” of democratic institutions in Serbia. “Our joint mission has neither changed its goal or intensity, and the goal is – building a democratic society founded on equality of all and full engagement of all in all spheres and activities in the society,” Dacic specified.

According to Dacic, “Serbia today is much better than a Serbia 20 years ago.” “Through its mission in Serbia, the CoE has all along been backing our efforts toward strengthening the protection of human rights and the rights of national minorities and cherishing differences in the broadest sense,” Dacic stressed.
