Vojin Kostic (BETAPHOTO/MO)

The BETA News Agency named on June 5 the head of its domestic news desk, Vojin Kostic, as the agency's acting editor-in-chief.

His predecessor, Dragan Janjic, died suddenly on Dec. 30 last year, and the agency's director, Radomir Diklic, has been running BETA since.

Kostic joined BETA as a domestic news reporter in 2002, while still a student, and was then promoted to editor of BETA's national network of correspondents and editor of the agency's domestic news. Aside from politics, Kostic developed an interest in the area of security news, and in 2010 he received the Media Center's "Defense" Award for best reporting on the activities of the Serbian Ministry of Defense.

Before him the spot of editor-in-chief was performed first by Radomir Diklic when the agency was established in 1994, followed by Ljubica Markovic, Ivan Cvejic and Dragan Janjic.
