People’s Party head Vuk Jeremic has said that the change of government in Serbia is a two-step process, adding that it depends on the citizens if the first step is to be made in 2022.
“If we have the elections in 2022, we’ll have the opportunity to deliver the final blow. If we achieve results that will show [to the current government] that Serbia is not their stomping ground and that not everyone is bending the knee, the next step will quickly follow,“ Jeremic said in the evening on June 6.
Jeremic also stated that no one in Serbia should hope or expect the “foreign factor to intervene and topple [Serbian President Aleksandar] Vucic for us.”
“The foreigners do not have a problem with Vucic and his gang. He suits them as is. He supports Rio Tinto and Linglong; he gives them [our] airports and agricultural land for peanuts; sipping cognac with them, he discusses waste incinerators and metro lines worth billions of euros which he borrows from them, and which our children will be paying back. He’s right for everyone but for us who live here [in Serbia]… That’s why a firm party organization is a must, as are fieldwork and direct contact with the people,” Jeremic said.
According to People’s Party vice-president Borislav Novakovic, the current regime in Serbia can only be defeated by a more determined and brave opposition.
