Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated on July 1 that Serbia would decide when or if it would move its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, according to international law and its own interests.

Vucic stated that these interests changed with Israel recognized Kosovo's independence, and that Belgrade would make its decisions accordingly. Vucic said that Serbia would respect its friendship with Israel, but also respect itself, and that he had conveyed this to the Israeli prime minister during a meeting.

The U.S. Department of State has stated that they hoped Serbia and Kosovo would continue to adhere to the commitments from the Washington Agreement, signed at the White House in September 2020, the Voice of America (VoA) reported on June 30. One of these commitments, with a July 1 deadline, was the moving of Serbia's embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
