The speaker of the Serbian parliament, Ivica Dacic, said on July 10 that the main take-away from a two-day European Parliament-mediated inter-party dialog was the preparation of a proposal consisting of measures and solutions for the participants of the dialog to give their opinion on by Sept. 1.

Dacic called on all participants in the dialog to send in their demands by Aug. 1 so they could be included in the proposed measures and solutions. "For the dialog to succeed, the demands of the opposition need to be realistic, achievable and sustainable, so no one can have a pretext for not running in elections and thereby smear Serbia," Dacic told a joint news conference with EP representatives in Belgrade.

He said the talks had provided stakeholders with a forum to lay out their expectations from the dialog and to exchange opinions on media-related issues. Dacic announced that the next round of the dialog would take place on Sept. 17 and 18.

Dacic said the responsibility for the success of the inter-party dialog on improving election conditions rested on all political actors, and that he hoped that there would be no pointing of fingers for its possible failure.
