The president of the People’s Party, Vuk Jeremic, has stated that new evidence about the links between people at the state helm and the crime clan of Veljko Belivuk would start emerging in the forthcoming weeks and months, which will change the perception of Serbia in the most important capitals of Europe and the world.

“International representatives have information about those links and have sent reports about that, which will be on the tables of their governments in September, after the summer holidays,” Jeremic said at a news conference in Nis, as announced by the People’s Party in the evening of Aug. 9.

He assessed that the link between organized crime and Serbia’s state helm was “something that is beginning to cast different light on the way in which Serbia is perceived and on the views about whether Serbia is a factor of stability in the region, and where all that is leading.”

Jeremic, who is the former foreign minister of Serbia and president of the U.N. General Assembly, said that he had talks in the previous few days with several diplomats on assignment in Belgrade, and that he would continue those talks in the forthcoming days.

“My main impression from the talks with international diplomats was the consternation that they demonstrated after an abundance of information emerged about the relation between one of the most blood-thirsty and most organized criminal groups in Serbia, the gang of Veljko Belivuk, and their links with the people from the state helm of Serbia,” Jeremic stated.
