Mirsad Djerlek, a state secretary at the Health Ministry, on Aug. 17 said that everything was ready for offering Covid-19 booster shots.

In a statement to state public broadcaster RTS, Djerlek said that instead of submitting applications, citizens would be receiving text messages or emails from the E-government Office. He stressed that according to recommendations, citizens should receive boosters about six months after receiving their second dose.

He added that all vaccination centers will be operational and that citizens can be inoculated at any of them regardless of where they had received their two doses.

Speaking about the vaccination rate in Serbia, Djerlek said that more than 50 percent of Serbia’s adult population, precisely nearly 50.6 percent, had been inoculated. He added that the vaccination had slowed down, but noted that “most probably the Crisis Headquarters will decide on what the best option is.”
