50 people died from the consequences of the coronavirus infection in Serbia in the past 24 hours and there were 7,150 newly infected, it was announced on the covid19.rs web-site on Oct. 6.
There are 6,530 covid patients currently being treated in hospitals, 278 of them on ventilators. 8,531 people have died from the disease so far.
The state secretary of the Ministry of Health, Mirsad Djerlek, stated on Oct. 6 that, according to assessments, no new restrictions were required at this moment, but that nothing was "set in stone" and that the epidemiological situation was monitored daily.
"The situation is very hard, there is no place for panic, but we must be very cautious and behave seriously," Djerlek said in an interview to TV Pink, adding that vaccination was "the only solution."
