Epidemiologist Branislav Tiodorovic said on Feb. 10 that the existing measures for preventing the spread of the coronavirus that were introduced by the Crisis Headquarters would stay in place and that no new restrictions were necessary at this time.
Tiodorovic told the Blic newspaper that no changes to existing measures were possible at this time as too little time had passed since the Omicron strain appeared in Serbia, which was why there was no clear study or complete understanding of the situation.
"Everybody is talking about how the Scandinavian countries are canceling measures. That is true, but they have a vaccination rate of 85-90 percent," Tiodorovic said. He added that it was too early to reach any conclusions on the Omicron strain and its stealth variant, but that the strains could be said to "be entering some kind of finale."
"With time this will become an epidemiological occurrence, which doesn't mean that it will not be dangerous to some people," Tiodorovic said.
