EU office in Kosovo chief Tomas Szunyog said on April 7 that Kosovo's European perspective was defined through the enactment of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) six years ago, as the first contractual relationship between the EU and Kosovo.
"During the lat six years, in association with the EU, Kosovo has been working on very important processes, including the sectors of justice, trade, education and employment. Political dialogue and neighborly relations are an important part of that," he said.
"The contract was signed for a 10-year initial period, with the possibility of extension. The next four years should be used to achieve substantial progress. The more the agreement is conducted, the more Kosovo will benefit," Szunyog said.
He added that the Kosovo government's role "is to take the lead and secure that all of the obligations that stem from the SAA are met, with the support and in cooperation with the Assembly, civil society and private sector." "The EU is your partner and we are ready to help you. Together we can achieve progress," Szunyog said.
