Marinka Tepic, the vice president of the Freedom and Justice Party has said that, “strategically and in the long term,” Serbia should harmonize its policies with those of Europe.

In an April 27 evening interview for Nova TV, Tepic stated that Serbia’s current foreign policy has put the country in “a very difficult situation” and added that Serbia “should definitely follow the Western path.” In her opinion, Serbia is a part of Europe and neighbor of EU member states – not “a neighbor of the Russian Federation.”

“Strategically and in the long term, we should align our policies with [those of] Europe. It is up to us to open [a discussion on] this issue,” Tepic said, adding that she cannot anticipate the decisions the government will make because “their word cannot be trusted.” In her opinion, the issue of Serbia’s foreign policy should be raised and discussed in Parliament.

Tepic concluded by saying that she expects the atmosphere in the assembly to change in the wake of the April elections because “the people don’t like incidents.”
