The Day of Serb Unity, Freedom and National Flag was marked in Bijeljina on Sept. 15, in the presence of top officials of Serbia and Republika Srpska and Serbian Patriarch Porfirije.

"This historic moment calls on us to unite as Serbs. The essence of any freedom is the right to be different, and that is the only way to stay united in the struggle for freedom," Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated in his address. He added that this day was important because "at a time when everyone is at war, we must understand that ourselves is all we've got."

The Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, said that unity, which the Serb people needs, would never be completely won, but that the process would continue, and that he was convinced the Day of Serb Unity, Freedom and National Flag would be marked in the future.

The president of Republika Srpska (RS), Zeljka Cvijanovic, stated that RS and Serbia were jointly marking the Day of Serb Unity, Freedom and National Flag, as the day of the start of breakthrough at the Salonika Front, and as a symbol of everything that the Serb people, wherever they may be, carry deep within themselves.
