Serbia’s leading epidemiologist, Dr Zoran Radovanovic, has cautioned that the existing coronavirus statistics suggest that it’s too early to declare victory over the virus.
“The World Health Organization (WHO) said it could see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel, because the critical period is over. Yet I don’t expect it to make any major decisions before spring,” the doctor said in a Sept. 28 interview with the Politika newspaper.
As he put it, “late this autumn we can expect another wave of COVID-19, probably smaller and with fewer deaths.” “In other words, we need to learn how to live with the virus. Now is the transition from an epidemic to an endemic, meaning that we can expect the COVID-19 outbreaks at the beginning and at the end of winter, but their effects would not disrupt normal life,” Dr Radovanovic explained.
