Prime Minister Ana Brnabic announced on Nov. 16 that Singapore fully supports Serbia signing a cooperation and friendship agreement with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, despite lying far outside the region. “This would require the support of all ASEAN member countries, but Singapore is one of the most important. We will have its full support,” Brnabic told the RTS public service.

Currently on a two-day visit to Singapore for the Bloomberg New Economy Forum, Brnabic added that she received said assurances of support during a meeting with Singaporean President Halimah Yacob and the country’s National Security Minister Teo Chee Hean.

The Serbian prime minister added that, upon her return to Belgrade, she and President Aleksandar Vucic would relaunch the process for signing an agreement with the ASEAN – a move, she stressed, “is strategically and essentially important for Serbia.“
