Expert for international law Tibor Varandi has said that Kosovo's separation would be contrary to international law but added that Kosovo and Metohija were today de facto no longer a part of Serbia.

Varadi told the latest, Dec. 1 edition of the NIN weekly that the Community of Serb Municipalities "is a form of autonomy within the state, although no one is saying that it is autonomy within another state."

"If it remains obscure whether Kosovo is another country, has it been snatched or are we trying to keep it, it is hard to say which arguments we should lean on and I would not enjoy being in the position of a politician. Sustainable postponement appears as an alternative to this difficult solution," Varadi said.
