The Democratic Alliance of Kosovo has accused Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti that together with a former Kosovo ambassador to Croatia, Martin Berishaj, he was involved in a financial scandal Slovenian media had been covering for quite a while.
A member of the Alliance’s presidency, Jafer Tahiri, said at a press conference that Kurti’s last election campaign had relied on suspicious financial resources, the Kosovo Online portal quoted Pristina’s media as saying on Jan. 11.
“The scandal is getting bigger. According to the latest reports, it’s about 100 million euros of the GEN company, suspected of having used a branch in Tirana, to which it paid EUR14 million, to finance Kurti’s campaign,” Tahiri said. To substantiate the claim, Tahiri offered a report by Slovenia’s Prava portal. The party official wants the authorities to investigate the allegations, which, according to him, undermined the integrity of the Government of Kosovo.
The first time Ambassador Berishaj was accused of involvement in a financial scandal was last April, ahead of presidential elections in Slovenia.
