Over 120,000 Migrants Pass Through Serbia in 2022

Last year, Serbia’s asylum and reception centers registered a total of 124,127 migrants, the state Commissariat for Refugees and Migration announced on Jan. 30.

“Records indicate that certain migrants stay longer, while others stay shorter, but the average time they [spend in Serbia] is 16 days. In 2021, the average was 30 days, while in 2020 it was 36 days,” the Commissariat said.

The statement added that Serbia’s 17 asylum and reception centers are currently housing 3,059 migrants.

The press release also stated that, in 2022, the majority of migrants registered in Serbia hailed from Afghanistan, Syria, Pakistan, Morocco and India.
