“Kosovo has been extracted from Serbia….I support Kosovo, but when it’s done once against the will of the state Kosovo belonged to, which was Serbia, i.e. Yugoslavia, not a friendly state and we couldn’t care less about it, it’s just a matter of time before Russians, or someone else for that matter, would do the same. It’s happening now,” Milanovic said to reporters in Petrinja, a town hit by a devastating earthquake two years ago.
Speaking about the clashes in Ukraine and Russia’s annexation of Crimea, Milanovic said that the international community “annexed Kosovo.” “We, and the international community. Kosovo was taken away from Serbia. Who did it? We did. Did we recognize Kosovo or not? It’s not annexation, it’s seizure. What’s it called? Extraction. Potayto, potahto,” Milanovic said.
The Croatian president underlined that he wasn’t challenging Kosoov, but rather “the concept allowing someone to think that they are entitled to everything when it suits them fine, but when someone else does the same thing, it’s a crime.”
Milanovic said that everyone knew that “Crimea will not be Ukraine,” and German generals, too, had spoken about it.
