EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue Miroslav Lajcak on Feb. 7 said he was happy that Kosovo had in principle accepted the EU proposal for normalization of relations between the two sides.

“I’m glad that Kosovo now also accepted the EU Proposal in principle. We will continue our discussions at a High-level Meeting,” Lajcak wrote on his Twitter.

Lajcak also wrote that on Feb. 6 he had travelled to Pristina to meet Kosovo Premier Albin Kurti and Pristina’s chief negotiator Besnik Bislimi, and to Belgrade to talk with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Office for Kosovo and Metohija Head Petar Petkovic.

After meeting Lajcak, Vucic wrote on his Instagram in the evening on Feb. 6 that it was “an open and friendly talk.”

“An open and friendly meeting with Miroslav Lajcak. When I say open, I truly mean it. You understand me completely,” Vucic said.

After the meeting in Pristina, Kurti said that Pristina now accepted the EU proposal for normalization of relations with Belgrade, adding that he considered it “a good basis for further discussion and a solid platform for moving forward.” Kurti also said that some questions in relation to the proposal would be addressed during the Brussels talks ahead.
