The United States will provide an additional 31 million dollars for the modernization and equipping of the Army of North Macedonia, the Defense Ministry of North Macedonia announced on Feb. 23.
According to information on the ministry’s web-site (mod.gov.mk), with the additional 31 million in funding, the U.S. is continuing its support to the process of modernization and equipping of North Macedonia’s military according to highest NATO standards. This financial package follows last year’s financial support for modernization and equipping in the amount of $106 million, which, the statement reads, is proof of the strong defense ties between North Macedonia and the U.S. as NATO allies.
From the start of defense cooperation to 2022, the U.S. supported the development of North Macedonia’s military and defense with $160 million, with an additional 137 million having arrived during last year alone.
