Kosovo: Month in Detention for Man Suspected of Torching Vehicles, Wounding Police Officer
The Basic Court in Pristina has ruled that Serb Milovan Bozovic, suspected of taking part in the torching of vehicles with RKS license plates and the attack on two police officers in northern Kosovo last week, be placed in monthlong detention.
A statement from the court says that Bozovic is charged with five criminal offenses, namely participation in or organizing of a criminal group, causing general danger, attack on an officer on duty, attempted murder, and arson.
Lawyer Nebojsa Vlajic told BETA that the Basic Court in Pristina had placed Bozovic, a resident of Zubin Potok, in custody "without any evidence," and said he would appeal the decision.
Kosovo Interior Minister Xhelal Svecla said in a Facebook post that the arrested Bozovic was known to "security institutions as a criminal," and that he was also suspected of the murder of an EULEX member.
