The U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, has called for a prompt implementation of the agreement on the normalization of relations between Serbia and Kosovo.

Thomas-Greenfield met in New York with the vice-premier and foreign minister of Kosovo, Donika Gerwalla-Schwarz, stated the U.S. mission to the U.N..

The U.S. ambassador congratulated the minister “the historic, legally binding agreement on normalization” reached by Kosovo and Serbia “and called for its urgent implementation.” The U.S. will continue its active engagement in supporting Kosovo and Serbia in implementing their obligations in reaching predictable and peaceful relations, the statement reads.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on April 24 that he would travel to Brussels on May 2, to a meeting with Kosovo Premier Albin Kurti and international mediators, but that he did not expect anything from that meeting. EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue Miroslav Lajcak has stated that the forthcoming meeting of the two sides’ leaders would focus on presenting the first draft statute of the Community of Serb Municipalities and adopting the Declaration on Missing Persons.
