The new president-elect of Montenegro, Jakov Milatovic, has invited all presidents from the Western Balkans to his inauguration in Podgorica on May 20, including Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani.

Milatovic has decided that his inauguration will take place in Podgorica rather than in Cetinje, where his predecessors were inaugurated. After taking an oath of office at the session of the Montenegrin Parliament, Milatovic will hold a reception at Villa Gorica, which the heads of states from the region have also been invited to.

The office of Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani stated on May 11 that she had been invited to the inauguration.

Montenegrin media reported earlier that invitations to the inauguration had been sent to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Croatian President Zoran Milanovic and North Macedonian President Stevo Pendarovski.

The last time Vucic visited Montenegro was for the funeral of Serbian Orthodox Church Bishop Amfilohije, on Oct. 30, 2020.
